    TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE
    SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 – 1:30 PM

We are closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Ike. All of Carnival’s ships continue to operate at a safe distance from this storm. Our number one priority is the safety of our guests and crew.

For our cruises scheduled to depart from Galveston on Sunday or Monday, here are the current plans:

Carnival Conquest September 14, 2008 Departure

Based on all the information available to us now, we do not expect the Port of Galveston to be open on Sunday. We have now decided to operate a 6 day cruise departing on Monday, September 15. This cruise will visit Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Guests that elect to sail on this cruise will receive a 15% refund of cruise fare. In addition, we will provide a 25% discount on a future 3 to 7 day cruise departing prior to December 15, 2009.

There is some chance that the Port of Galveston will remain closed on Monday. If that occurs, we will operate a 5 day cruise departing on Tuesday, September 16.

We will send a communication to all guests on this cruise no later than 7:00 PM (CDT) on Sunday to advise any changes to our plans to operate the 6 day cruise on Monday, September 15.

Carnival Ecstasy September 15, 2008 Departure

We are planning to operate this cruise as scheduled with departure on Monday, September 15.

There is some chance that the Port of Galveston will not be open on Monday. If that occurs, we will operate a 4 day cruise departing on Tuesday, September 16.

We will send a communication to all guests on this cruise no later than 7:00 PM (CDT) on Sunday to advise any changes to our plans to operate the scheduled 5 day cruise on Monday, September 15.

We want to thank all of our guests for sailing with us. We look forward to welcoming you aboard the Carnival Conquest and Carnival Ecstasy on Monday.
  • Hurricane Ike Gains Strength in the Caribbean

    9/5/2008 -

Hurricane Ike gained significant strength yesterday in the Caribbean. It’s now a Category 4 storm heading toward the Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos this weekend. Tourism officials in the Turks & Caicos have asked tourists to leave the islands today, and the Providenciales airport will close later this afternoon. Travel Weekly reports that Butch Stewart, the chairman of Sandals and Beaches Resorts (an OSSN supplier member!), chartered an airplane to fly home the remaining guests still staying at the Beaches Turks & Caicos resort (which will close until Sept. 26 to clean up debris from Tropical Storm Hanna). If you have clients traveling in the Caribbean or the southeastern U.S. coast this weekend, you should check ahead with suppliers in case those travel plans change due to these storms.

    September 2, 2008 - 10:30 AM

Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises continue to closely monitor the path and progress of Tropical Storm Hanna to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm.

The safety of our guests and crew members is always our foremost concern.

Given the locations and projected paths of Tropical Storm Hanna, Celebrity and Azamara are currently not altering the itineraries of any ships. Royal Caribbean is altering the itineraries of four ships:

    ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL

    Ships sailing from Port Canaveral

    - Sovereign of the Seas, which departed Port Canaveral Monday, September 1, will sail a revised itinerary. The ship will visit Nassau, Bahamas, Tuesday; and Key West, Florida, Wednesday, spending the night and departing Thursday morning.

    - Mariner of the Seas, which departed Port Canaveral Sunday, August 31, will sail a modified itinerary. The ship will not visit Coco Cay, Bahamas, Monday, but will makes its scheduled port calls in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Wednesday; and Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Thursday.

Ships sailing from the Port of Miami

    - Majesty of the Seas, which departed the Port of Miami Monday, September 1, will sail a revised itinerary. The ship will visit Nassau, Bahamas, Tuesday; and visit Key West, Florida, Wednesday, spending the night and departing Thursday evening.

    - Liberty of the Seas, which departed the Port of Miami Saturday, August 30, will sail a revised itinerary, with its ports of call simply reordered. The ship will visit Labadee, Haiti, Monday; San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tuesday; and Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Wednesday. At this time, no other Royal Caribbean International ships are being adversely impacted by tropical weather.

    CELEBRITY CRUISES

    - Celebrity Cruises currently has no ships in the Caribbean and is not altering the itineraries of any ships due to tropical weather.

    AZAMARA CRUISES

    - Azamara Cruises currently has no ships in the Caribbean and is not altering the itineraries of any ships due to tropical weather.

We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and update this information Tuesday, September 2, at 6:30 p.m.
